Q1. In a workplace, which employee is “a person trained in first aid” under the Occupational Safety and Health Regulation (OSHR), Cap. 509A?

Under the provision of Occupational Safety and Health Regulation (OSHR), Cap 509A, ‘a person trained in first aid’ shall be a person:

  1. who holds a certificate of competency in first aid issued by the St. John's Ambulance Association, the Auxiliary Medical Services (AMS) or the Hong Kong Red Cross; or
  2. who is a registered nurse within the meaning of the Nurses Registration Ordinance (Cap 164); or
  3. who has completed a training course in first aid and who holds a certificate to that effect issued by an organisation approved by the Commissioner.

To fulfill as “a person trained in first aid” under the Occupational Safety and Health Regulation (OSHR), Cap 509A, employees can complete the following courses with a valid certificate, or become a registered nurse under the meaning of the Nurses Registration Ordinance (Cap. 164).
